Personally I’m convinced you could cut the military budget by about 75 percent over a ten year period if you got rid of use it or lose it budgets and built government owned manufacturing for certain military stuffs. There’s no reason ammo, uniforms, MREs, and maybe even light vehicles can’t be produced in house. Also in addition military needs right to repair and the ability to pay bulk market rates for things like toilet paper.

I feel like trams, trolleys, and electrified busses are in their own category seperate from trains. It’s kinda like a rabbit and a hare, there’s a lot of overlap but they are different.

The sad part is that there are some bits of tech that started popping off around when this shit started to get popular that does have some really awesome potential such as acoustic diagnostics for machine or those systems that can detect cancer formation months or even years before a doctor could manually detect it. The thing is that while some of these systems may use language models or learning algorithms they basically have no overlap with shit like Chatgpt or Claude, but will almost certainly be hurt when the AI bubble pops just because they share some terminology.

Personally I’m hoping the US collapses and the Olympics gets cancelled or otherwise the state shuts it down. Mostly cause it’d be funny.

I think it’s because most people on Lemmy are technologically literate enough and over exposed enough to AI that’s it’s basically reached a stage where banning it is the default opinion. Personally I just think it’s a stupid waste of resources and want these fucking LLM companies to all go bankrupt.

Can’t speak for anyone else but I basically only use YouTube for video entertainment anymore. I think basically all tv is middling as fuck and will only watch shit that truly catches my eye, otherwise I’ve got a video playing on my monitors. Note I don’t watch scrolling short form content, it’s basically all trash outside of the occasional meme and needs to be outlawed in my opinion.

I know damned well that the term slop has been used since the 90s for food and at least the late 00s for other things. The term shovelware slop comes to mind. Note I don’t remember the 90s I was a month old when it ended but I did watch a lot of 90s media so yeah.
