Oh, you’re right. But it doesn’t come up a lot.

Other than Indonesia, what can you confuse polish flag with? It’s just red and white stripe, too simple to get confused, isn’t it?

I think the energy metabolism of any organism would limit the amount of light you can get. I don’t believe any organism (except maybe bacteria with lots of nutrients provided) has that much energy to spare and handle without dying pretty fast.

That’s incredibly interesting, thanks!

Just to put it in perspective, here’s a joke.
Do you know what’s the difference between nazis and communists?
Communists killed more communists.
It’s funny, because it’s true.

Isn’t that what a marketplace means? Otherwise it’s an online shop?

Most parents won’t. People are people. Those that would want to have to ballance the risk of excluding their children from the collective.

Have a look at Factorio. It’s DRM free and you can easily spend hundreds or thousands of hours on it if you like it. Try the free demo first. Also keep in mind that it’s never on sale (or always, depends how you look at it). Be warned though, it’s very addictive.

If you’re interested in shit in pristine untouched places, guess what Apollo astronauts did with their shit on the moon?

Could also be better diagnostics. A lot of diseases are becoming much more common just because we can recognise them more easily.
I think Ra has a magic casting system that is a programming language.

It’s not so much about nuclear envelope and more about ends. DNA polymerase (an enzyme that builds new DNA) cannot copy the whole end - there are a few bases that should be at the end but cannot be added. Eukaryota deal with it by a complex mechanism (they have telomeres), but it allows for multiple chromosomes and therefore larger genomes. Bacteria have a circular genome instead, a circle doesn’t have an end, so they can copy as much as they need.
BTW, mitochondria and plastids, being former bacteria, also have circular genomes.

Well, if USA and Europe were at war, with article 5, they could arrange it so that Europe fought Europe and USA fought USA, singe they are allies and must help. It would save a lot of transatlantic logistics and make things much easier.

It sure is, but on google maps, it looks as big as northern America.

Does Trump want Greenland so bad because he thinks it’s huge due to a map projection?
There were some compatibility problems that required genetic engineering of the pig. I don’t remember specifics, but there was talk about potential dormant viruses in pig DNA that need to be removed first, possible problems with glycolsylation (sugar chains on the proteins outside of cells) and maybe more. The article also mentions that the pig had some human genes, I’m sure those help compatibility too. So many changes would be next to impossible to do until relatively recently, before use of CRISPR-Cas9. Also, it must’ve taken some time to certify the procedure. That’s why it took so much time since the topic was hot.
In a considerable part of the world. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minimum_driving_ages
Thanks for this, those are some incredible designs!

Not as far s I know. Motivating people to go into debt often is not a common policy. At least not in Europe, but I think it’s very unusual worldwide.
Fun fact. Including all accidents, nuclear power released way less radioactivity than coal burning. There’s only a little radioactivity in the coal, but we burn a lot of it.
