That is really concerning. Activity Pub should have a mechanism to hide those. If by any chance, one’s identity is reviled, their entire behaviour history would be out in the wild. The more one use an account, the more information is getting shared. Social engineering is a real thing.

The only way is it be absolutely private by not interacting (lurkers), which is not good for a social media like Lemmy or by changing accounts often.

Also VPN makes you rather anonymous. The sites won’t track you and sometimes the trackers on public torrent files are notorious for tracking.

Some websites now are really shit. Won’t load unless you allow JavaScript from 15 different domains, cookie consent, terrible privacy etc.

If I want to know things like what 10 kmpl in mpg, I often use DDG snippets.

I have seen some people in UK (on reddit) complaining about ISP sending notices when torrenting w/o a VPN.
