  • Uhm, if we are the Generation in which the system breaks we will be the generation with the highest death (and suicide) rate since the great depression. (for example)

Though if I had to pick if my kids had to grow up into either a transitional breakdown and can build it up…

    Or

Into a dystopian right wing nazi dictatorship as we see all over coming up…

I’d pick the rebuilding for them

  • It’s actually a useful tool… If it were not too often used for so very dystopian purposes.

But it’s not just AI. All services, systems, etc… So many are just money grabs, hate, opinion making or general manipulation… I have many things I hate more about “modern” society, than I do as to how LLMs are used.

I like the lemmy mindset far more than reddit and only on the AI topic people here are brainlessly focused on the tool instead of the people using the tool.

  • I feel that for many people it simply comes more naturally.

It’s a seamless scale and I just presume I’m missing some receptors others have socially so I have to compensate with templates.

Yes, people all have to learn what is what in which society and what situation or environment. I think it’s a major difference in constant self reflection others dont have that much and how raw data arrives. For me its like I perceive things slighty differently than most and I have to first convert it to a alternative viewport to make it fit properly.

Small differences can have a big impact on if something is awkward or normal.

  • Yes. So very yes. I’m over 40 now and have most social situations set as templates or template variations, but as a teenager and young adult it was hard to get the unspokenly expected responses and reactions right.

These days I got it all covered so well that I have anyone and everyone so convinced that I am an extrovert that they actually laugh when I suggest I’m in truth an introvert and more.

I still am overly self conscious too much, especially AFTER any interactions, reflecting way too much on how I might have come over, seemed, what was too much, not enough, etc.

It’s a mask I can no longer turn off as it’s automated and its very exhausting.

But it works… Based on my observations.

  • Well, not quite.

There are plenty of jobs that require smart people which can be automated a lot.

    Business analytics, legal stuff, etc.

They won’t kill the need for expert human minds yet, but the jobs will need significantly less people overall for the same work, which means less jobs in those areas, which then leads to less people being able to learn those jobs and we are headed towards elite humans VS most humans being struggling slave-consumers.

At least from a current perspective.

If universal income or such were a thing all those consumers could focus on creating and learning what they truly like, many turning into experts organically, most likely.

But no, society is too dumb and rigid to adapt to this reality without everything burning to the ground first
