The world just keeps getting weirder.

It’s no surprise that he doesn’t see a problem with this. He’s a textbook predator, and the whole situation with Grimes made that abundantly clear.
I hope his next venture is selling guided tours in unregulated deep sea subs.

PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy just had its first major hack. What happens next:English24·2 years agoHow do I contact my instance admin?
I went ahead and logged out and back in on my own, but I was not prompted to do so by Lemmy and I don’t know enough about this stuff to say whether or not doing it on my own would’ve helped. I’m still pretty overwhelmed trying to figure this site out, so I apologize if this is a dumb question, just want to make sure I’m doing what I can to protect my own privacy.
I don’t want to fall for the millennial version of a Nigerian prince scam, lol.
PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Does it feel like the fediverse is exclusively used by older tech nerds?English6·2 years agoHey, me too!
I miss when things were either plug 'n play, or complicated enough that you needed like an IT spirit guide and lots of free time to get anything figured out.
PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit Gives Final Warning to Subreddits Using NSFW Protest TacticEnglish1·2 years agoI just got the data packet I requested from my 10+ year old account. I’m going to try downloading/opening it tomorrow, and if it works (I really want to see what I was talking about 10 years ago) I’m out.
I encourage others to do the same! I’ve heard that you should nuke all your high value posts and comments by editing them to just “.” before deleting, to ensure there’s no contribution even if reddit restores the data, which is apparently something they’ve started to do.
PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Your Lemmy activities (e.g. downvotes) are far from privateEnglish3·2 years agoThank you, that’s very reassuring! I was able to go in after the fact and delete my email from my account, though I’m not sure how much good that will do. I’m definitely going to look into those, the Firefox relay in particular sounds pretty user friendly. I don’t know when I lost my tech savvy, but it’s getting harder and harder to keep up with things these days.
Speaking of which, does Lemmy remind anyone else of irc? The organized chaos has been giving me deja vu and I think I just realized why…
PagingDoctorLove@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Your Lemmy activities (e.g. downvotes) are far from privateEnglish7·2 years agoI’m not worried about upvotes or downvotes being seen by anyone, but I am very worried about other personal info being seen by any admins. I have a very real, very scary stalker, and if all they had to do was create an instance to see my private information…
To be clear, I know that’s not what’s currently happening, but it feels like a bit of a slippery slope when pretty much anyone can become an admin and things aren’t super secure yet.
I’m kind of regretting giving my email to sign up, now. I just don’t know enough about this stuff to know whether or not that’s a valid concern.
