Too bad most Canadians are fucking idiots and didn’t realize or understand that 80% of households benefitted from the Carbon Tax, receiving more than what they paid in the first place.

In what way it obvious? I’ve seen so many people make similar “jokes” just to spread their hateful rhetoric.
If you want to make a joke like this, you should really use a sarcasm tag or similar indicators that they’re not your truly-held beliefs. Unfortunately modern conservatives have kicked Poe’s Law into overdrive, and if one leaves a comment like this one wihout a clear indication of sarcasm, people really have no choice but to assume they’re a bigot.
We can’t ask them, but if we could, I bet you the animals would have a few objections.
“Trans kids should have to overcome a bunch of hurdles to access necessary treatment” doesn’t sound that supportive to me.
Calling the natural variety of combinations of gender and sex “a mental disorder” doesn’t strike me as particularly supportive either. Do you consider homosexuality to be a mental disorder?
A Nazi Christian nationalist toured Canada this summer, people opposed had to get together in every single city and have there be substantial public outcry before local governments revoked his licenses to play.
So, Nazi? You’re fine, in line with Canadian values apparently. Critical of Israel in any way? BANNED FROM CANADA

I only vote because I’m queer and the Conservatives have a much more aggressive form of homophobia than the Libs.

I’ve no experience with them (when I briefly lived in Montréal my internet was with TekSavvy) so I can’t comment on how they compare with Rogers/Bell.
Things that are violent:
Imprisoning and deporting innocent immigrants
State-sanctioned murder of black people via police
Legislating away the human rights of trans people
Forcing women to give birth against their will
The real illiberal, fundamentalist, totalitarian terrorists are on the right. I didn’t shed a tear for Kirk and I wouldn’t for PP or JK, either.

Don’t underestimate how much American MAGA rhetoric has infiltrated Canada. A lot of people here are bigoted against immigrants, queers, natives, or [INSERT MARGINALIZED GROUP HERE].
Even in my heavily Liberal city, I’ve heard someone suggest a homeless hunting season (as in, a season to hunt homeless people). I’ve seen a guy rage because city hall was flying a Pride flag. I’ve heard people say they’re scared to go to the mall because there’s too many immigrants now.
I do truly think most people I encounter have their hearts in the right place, but I’m often surprised at what some of them say, even the ones who seem nice. Unfortunately, I think this rightward shift represents more of the population than we’d like to admit.
